An empty whelk shell, discovered during a foggy walk along the shoreline of Palm Bay beach in Margate.
A peaceful moment in time, now forever memorialised in solid bronze.
Found all across our coastline, common whelks are our largest sea snail, their easily identifiable conical shells can grow up to 10cm in length. The surface of these shells is covered in a pattern of wavy folds, echoing their watery environment.
Made in Margate and cast in solid bronze, these tactile objects can be used and admired as decoration, or they could even be the start of a seaside specimen collection.
